[texts]Morphology and arrangement of meromes in Ischadites dixonensis, an Ordovician Receptaculitid (Volume Fieldiana, Geology, Vol.39, No.2) - Fisher, Daniel C
Ischadites dixonensis (Miller and Gurley, 1896), from the Ordovician Galena Group of Illinois, is the oldest described North American ischaditid. The holotype is exceptionally well preserved and provides information on merome head morphology, articulation, and arrangement on the surface of the thallus. Meromes occur in whorls and form an equal number of dextral and sinistral parastichies. Each parastichy begins either at one of the heads surrounding the basal pole or at a triangulum, and extends...

[texts]North American Silurian receptaculitid algae (Volume Fieldiana, Geology, Vol.28) - Nitecki, Matthew H
Receptaculitaceae is considered an algal family within the order Dasycladales. The family is a coherent group that possesses anatomical characters common with the recent Dasycladales. the geographic and stratigraphic distribution of Silurian recetptaculitids is along the reef belt in a narrow zone from Iowa to Newfoundland. The ecological distribution of most Silurian species is within the reef complex; a few species are found in the carbonate inter-reef facies and a few in shaly rocks...

[texts]Ordovician Receptaculites camacho n. sp. from Argentina (Volume Vol 37, No. 5) - Nitecki, Matthew H
An Early Ordovician green alga, Receptaculites camacho n. sp., from the San Juan Formation in Talacasto Gorge, San Juan Province, Argentina is a probable ancestor of Receptaculites oweni of the Galena-Kimmswick (Caradocian?) of North America. Analogy with recent calcareous green algae suggests that R. camacho inhabited warm, shallow, marine water. A paleomagnetic reconstruction of mid-Ordovician continental configurations places the North and South American localities of R...

[texts]Internal structures of Cyclocrinites dactioloides : a receptaculitid alga from the Lower Silurian of Iowa (Volume Fieldiana, Geology, Vol.39, No.1) - Nitecki, Matthew H
Cyclocrinites dactioloides is a marine, calcareous, receptacullitid alga which occurs as a common fossil in the Lower Silurian (Llandoverian Hopkinton Dolomite) of eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinios. The main axis and lateral branches, previously unknown in this species, are described. These internal parts, rarely known in other taxa of cyclocrinitids, were poorly calcified and hence were seldom preserved...
